topright regularly work with Turtle Key Arts who are the production company for Ockham’s Razor. We design most of their shows’ promotional items. We were asked to develop an identity for Ockham’s upcoming production ‘Belly of the Whale’. This production, new for spring 2018, would see performers ride a giant semi-circular see-saw made of steel and wood. This structure transforms from a gentle rocking cradle to a catapult, captivating the audience with their signature blend of humour, circus skills and breath-taking moments of risk.

The concept of belly of the whale derives from global mythology – what happens when we confront our fears and come face to face with the power and momentum of things we seemingly can’t change?

The identity took the form of a logo. The final design integrates the shape of the see-saw through the use of negative space. By using a larger typeface for the words ‘Belly’ and ‘Whale’, emphasis is placed on the name of the production. This makes it clearer to the reader. Using a combination of text, graphic and colours gives the client the freedom to use different elements on various types of marketing material.

topright were also responsible for the Ockham’s Razor website design.

topright have never let us down over the many, many times we have worked with them.
